Speaking at a press conference on Saturday the Maldives Police Services (MPS) revealed that Shiaau Mohamed Saeed, 22, who was found dead on August 6, 2022, had been subjected to many assaults even after she had passed away. 

According to Maldives Police Services, she died as a result of the injuries according to to the early post-mortem reports. 

The deceased was discovered at  H. Sheereenvilla in Malé City with her head severed and her limbs amputated. Skater Ali Saahil, 23, was detained at the scene of the crime and is currently being held in custody pending the outcome of his trial. 

Police said they have enough evidence to bring charges against Saahil, and that they will send the case to the prosecutor general's office in the next two weeks.

Police continued by stating that they had evidence to accuse him of murder and had discovered how he had killed Shiaau. The murder's motivation has not yet been determined, though, and authorities have stated that they are still looking into the case.

Prior information regarding Ali Saahil's drug use at the time of his arrest in connection with the crime was made public. The precise sort of substance that the 23-year-old skater was using at the time was not made public by the police.
