Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN issue joint press release on Maldives' sustainable development plan

Yesterday, the Maldivian government and the United Nations issued a joint press release announcing the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Maldives 2023-2027. 

The agenda outlines key strategies and priorities for the country to achieve sustainable development goals over the next five years, focusing on four key areas: empowering people, protecting the planet, promoting peace and prosperity, and ensuring justice for all.

According to Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, the UNSDCF will enable the country to address the impacts of climate change, build resilience and promote sustainable economic growth. 
The framework is aligned with the Maldives’ Vision 2030, and its launch is considered a significant step towards achieving sustainable development goals in the country.

Maldives is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, and the UNSDCF aims to address this issue comprehensively. Additionally, the framework is expected to support the country's economic recovery efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
