A 50-year-old Maldivian man was found dead inside a guesthouse in Hulhumalé Phase I on Thursday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Maldives Police Service identified the deceased as Mohamed Razeen of Star, Malé.

According to police, authorities received a report during the afternoon regarding an unresponsive person on the third floor of a guesthouse in Hulhumalé Phase I.

Emergency responders attended the scene, and the individual was transported to a hospital.

Police said medical personnel confirmed that the man had died before arriving at the hospital.

Authorities also noted that the deceased had previously been arrested in connection with various criminal offenses.

The Maldives Police Service said the case remains under investigation, and further details have not yet been released.
