President Dr. Muizzu reaffirms commitment to US partnership
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with the United States, issuing a message on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
In a letter addressed to US President Donald J. Trump, President Dr. Muizzu extended greetings to the US government and the American people, marking the historic occasion.
He noted that this year’s celebration carries added significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United States.
The President highlighted that ties between the two countries have developed steadily over six decades, grounded in mutual respect, longstanding friendship, and a shared interest in promoting peace and prosperity.
He further emphasized the Maldives’ appreciation of its partnership with the United States and reaffirmed the government’s intention to expand cooperation in key areas, including security and defence, trade and economic development, education, and broader people-to-people engagement.
President Dr. Muizzu concluded by expressing optimism about continued collaboration aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two nations in the years ahead.
