Eid strengthens peace, unity and harmony across Maldives: President Dr. Muizzu
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on Maldivians to embrace the spiritual values of Eid al-Adha by strengthening faith, compassion, and unity within society.
In his national address marking Eid al-Adha 1447H, the President expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the occasion of Eid and extended greetings to all Maldivians, including those performing the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
The President described Eid al-Adha as a symbol of compassion and solidarity that unites the global Muslim community through the lessons and wisdom of Islam.
He reflected on the significance of the sacred gathering at Arafat, noting its representation of equality, humanity, and shared devotion among Muslims worldwide.
Highlighting the social and moral values associated with Eid, President Dr. Muizzu stressed the importance of nurturing good character among younger generations and supporting vulnerable members of society.
He noted that bringing happiness to those who are in need remains one of the key teachings and values of the occasion.
The President also emphasised that the sense of unity strengthened during Eid contributes to maintaining peace and harmony throughout the country.
He encouraged the public to celebrate responsibly while preserving Islamic principles and respecting traditional Maldivian customs and values.
In addition to his official address, President Dr. Muizzu also shared Eid greetings through social media, encouraging citizens to remember Allah through praise and recitation of Takbeer while observing Eid in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The President further highlighted the longstanding Maldivian custom of travelling to islands and gathering with family during Eid, expressing hope that the occasion would strengthen brotherhood, social ties, and national unity among all citizens.
