Maldives, Egypt sign MoU to boost internal security cooperation
The governments of Maldives and Egypt have taken a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations in the area of internal security, with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), the agreement was concluded between the MPS and Egypt’s Ministry of Interior.
The MoU outlines cooperation in key areas including specialised training programmes, resource sharing, and the exchange of information aimed at enhancing policing capabilities in both countries.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, while Mahmoud Abu Amra, Deputy Minister for Public Security and Head of the Supreme Council of the Police, represented Egypt.
The signing took place during an official visit by the Commissioner of Police to Egypt from the 17th to the 21st of this month.
During the visit, discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, improving information-sharing mechanisms, and expanding training opportunities between the two nations.
The agreement reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to enhance institutional capacity and reinforce cooperation in maintaining internal security.
