Chairman of Saudi Shura Council begins official visit to Maldives
Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, has commenced an official visit to the Maldives at the head of a high-level delegation, following an invitation from Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
The visit is aimed at further strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives, while exploring new avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors.
In a press statement, Al Al-Sheikh noted that the visit reflects the depth of bilateral ties between the two nations and underscores the commitment of both leaderships to enhancing coordination and continuous dialogue in ways that serve mutual interests.
He emphasized that relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia are rooted in shared Islamic values and a history of close cooperation.
Highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy, he described it as an important mechanism for fostering mutual understanding, narrowing differences, and advancing joint initiatives through strengthened collaboration and active engagement between parliamentary bodies.
He expressed confidence that the visit would provide renewed momentum to parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the People’s Majlis, further reinforcing ties between the two countries and their peoples.
During the visit, the Chairman has held official talks with Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla and meet with several senior Maldivian officials.
The accompanying delegation includes Shura Council members Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Mubarak, Engineer Mahdi bin Nasser Al-Dosari, Dr. Lulwah bint Abdulghaffar Fada, and Dr. Dalal bint Mohiuddin Manafani.
