World Bank to close dedicated Maldives social media account
The World Bank has announced that it will deactivate its “World Bank Maldives” account on X (formerly Twitter), which has served as its primary platform for sharing country-specific updates.
In a statement posted on its social media channels, the organization informed followers of its decision to discontinue the Maldives-focused account, expressing appreciation to the public for their engagement and support over time.
The World Bank clarified that updates related to their work will continue to be shared through its “World Bank South Asia” social media platforms.
While no specific reason was given for the move, the institution indicated that the decision forms part of a broader internal restructuring of its digital communications strategy.
As of now, Maldivian authorities have not issued an official response regarding the closure of the dedicated account.
