Maldives condemns Israeli attack on Lebanon, calls for accountability
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent military actions in Lebanon, describing the attack as a grave violation of international law.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Maldivian government denounced the assault carried out on April 8, which reportedly resulted in hundreds of deaths and left thousands injured.
The government characterised the attack as a heinous act that undermines ongoing international efforts to secure lasting peace and stability in the region.
According to the statement, such actions pose a serious risk of further destabilising regional security, exacerbating tensions in an already volatile environment.
The Maldives has called on the international community to take immediate and decisive measures to hold Israel accountable for continued violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Reaffirming its stance, the government expressed solidarity with the people and government of Lebanon, and reiterated its support for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
