Ahmed Mohamed appointed as Commissioner of Police
Mohamed Muizzu has appointed a new Commissioner of Police, filling a vacancy left following the retirement of his predecessor.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed was appointed to the post on Saturday, becoming the third Commissioner of Police under the current administration.
The position became vacant last month after former Commissioner Ismail Naveen retired after 32 years of service.
In the interim, Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikry served as Acting Commissioner.
Ahmed Mohamed brings more than three decades of experience in policing, having served in both operational and investigative leadership roles since 1995.
His professional training includes senior officer programmes such as the Basic Training Course for IPS Probationers at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.
He holds a Master of Shari’ah and a Bachelor of Shari’ah (Honours) from Villa College.
Following the appointment, the Maldives Police Service extended congratulations to the newly appointed Commissioner.
