President Dr. Muizzu urges equal opportunities for individuals with Autism
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called for greater awareness, compassion and action to promote inclusion, marking World Autism Awareness Day.
In a message shared on X, the President described autism as part of the diversity within society, emphasising that all individuals deserve respect, understanding and equal opportunities to participate fully in community life.
He highlighted the importance of fostering inclusive environments across homes, schools, workplaces and public spaces, noting that meaningful action is essential to achieving this goal.
The President also underscored the role of early intervention, inclusive education and broader community acceptance in supporting individuals with autism.
He said expanding access to skill development, vocational training and employment opportunities is key to strengthening both individuals and society as a whole.
President Dr. Muizzu added that the government has taken steps to enhance inclusive education frameworks, improve training opportunities and address challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families.
Observed annually on April 2, World Autism Awareness Day highlights the need for inclusion, acceptance and equal opportunity for individuals on the autism spectrum.
