Investor interest in renewable energy grows in Maldives: President Dr. Muizzu
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Maldives has seen a noticeable increase in investor interest in the renewable energy sector in recent weeks.
Speaking at a press briefing at the President’s Office, he noted that global developments, particularly tensions in the Middle East, have heightened the importance of transitioning to sustainable energy sources.
He said the government is looking to take advantage of this momentum while remaining committed to its long-term green energy goals.
The President also addressed questions regarding the implementation of social projects funded through foreign assistance.
He explained that international funding priorities often shift during periods of global uncertainty, and emphasised the importance of focusing on projects that can be delivered using domestic capacity.
However, he added that several partner countries continue to extend support to the Maldives.
Despite ongoing global economic challenges, the President affirmed that the country’s financial position remains stable.
He confirmed that the government is prepared to meet its upcoming sukuk repayment scheduled for April 8.
