New multi-sports complex opens in Hulhumalé Phase II
A newly developed multi-sports complex by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has officially opened in Hulhumalé Phase II, offering expanded recreational opportunities for residents.
The facility, named Hulhumalé Kulhivaru Ekuveni, was inaugurated on Friday evening by HDC’s Managing Director, Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from several sports academies active in Hulhumalé.
The complex features dedicated courts for a range of sports, including the traditional Maldivian game of bashi, as well as volleyball, basketball, handball, and netball.
According to HDC, the new facility is expected to help address the ongoing difficulty in securing bookings for sports courts in Hulhumalé, while also encouraging a more active lifestyle among residents.
The corporation added that further plans are underway to expand sports infrastructure in the area, including the development of additional facilities and outdoor gym spaces.
