The national carrier of the Maldives, Maldivian, has resumed its flight services to Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting today.

Passengers arriving on the resumed route were welcomed at Velana International Airport to mark the recommencement of direct air connectivity between the two countries. According to the airline, flights to Dhaka will operate twice a week, on Sundays and Thursdays.

Maldivian stated that the round-trip fare begins at USD 399, which includes a 30-kilogram baggage allowance for passengers.

The airline had previously maintained regular flights to Dhaka but suspended the service in August last year due to the civil unrest and instability in Bangladesh at the time.

Before the suspension, Maldivian operated consistent weekly services on the route.

Travel demand between the Maldives and Bangladesh remains strong, particularly because a large number of Bangladeshi expatriate workers reside in the Maldives, contributing to regular passenger movement between the two nations.
