Dr. Salma presents credentials as Maldives Ambassador to Austria
Dr. Salma Rasheed has formally presented her Letters of Credence to Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of Austria, marking her official accreditation as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Austria.
The ceremony took place at the historic Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
Following the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Salma held a meeting with President Van der Bellen, during which she conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, as well as from the Maldivian government and its people.
During the discussion, Ambassador Dr. Salma highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between the Maldives and Austria.
She reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest, including commercial diplomacy and greater people-to-people engagement.
As part of her visit to Vienna, Ambassador Dr. Salma also held meetings with senior officials from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria.
The discussions focused on exploring opportunities to deepen bilateral relations and enhance collaboration in multilateral forums.
Ambassador Dr. Salma was accompanied at the credential ceremony by Aishath Rayahyn, Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations Offices in Geneva.
In addition to her role as Non-Resident Ambassador to Austria, Dr. Salma also serves as the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices in Geneva and as Non-Resident Ambassador to Switzerland.
