The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Maldives has announced ongoing efforts to attract additional airlines from across Asia in order to minimize disruptions to air travel caused by recent developments affecting regional aviation routes.

In a statement issued by Civil Aviation authorities, the Ministry said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation affecting airspace usage across parts of the Middle East and its implications for international flight operations.

Officials noted that while some Middle Eastern carriers operating to the Maldives have adjusted their schedules, several airlines continue to maintain regular services.

To reduce potential impacts on connectivity, the Ministry is currently holding discussions with airlines from Southeast Asia, East Asia, and India to facilitate new or expanded operations to the Maldives.

The initiative aims to strengthen alternative travel links and maintain steady passenger flows during the current period of uncertainty.

Highlighting the importance of Middle Eastern routes to the Maldivian economy, the Ministry stated that it is working in coordination with key airlines serving the Maldives as well as relevant international aviation organizations to manage ongoing operational changes.

The Ministry further emphasized that its primary objective is to minimize inconvenience for tourists travelling to the Maldives, along with Maldivians and residents travelling abroad, while ensuring continued stability in the country’s air transport network.
