Nasheed promises to restructure student loans
Former President and Parliamentary Speaker Mohamed Nasheed have stated that he will restructure student loans.
Speaking at a meeting with youths last night during his campaign rally for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential primary, Nasheed stated that he believes the government should restructure student loans.
I will pledge to get the student debt adjusted no matter what occurs. Student interest rates change, and everything is completely reorganized.

Following his victory in this year's presidential election, Nasheed declared that he wants the MDP government to include student loan restructuring. Nasheed also made a statement about doing so tonight.
I'm hoping that some of the principal will be reduced. There will be some reduction in interest rates. There would be a grace period and an extended payback period

According to Nasheed, the state will be able to compensate for it if student loan repayment burdens are reduced.
