The annual Iftar program sponsored by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, was officially inaugurated in the Maldives today.

The launching ceremony was held at the Islamic Centre in Malé and was officiated by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

Senior officials from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Maldives attended the event, alongside members of a visiting delegation participating in the initiative.

Under the program, Iftar meals will be provided daily to 150 individuals throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s annual humanitarian activities carried out globally during Ramadan.

In addition to the daily Iftar distribution, a separate program to distribute premium-quality dates was also launched during the ceremony.

The initiative reflects the longstanding religious and diplomatic ties between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan.
