Maldivian launches twice-weekly Thoddoo seaplane flights
Island Aviation Services (Maldivian) has launched scheduled seaplane flights to AA. Thoddoo, providing faster access to the popular tourist destination.
The official inauguration took place today on Thoddoo in a grand ceremony honored by Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim.
Attendees included Island Aviation Deputy Managing Director Ali Saleem, Thoddoo Council members, and numerous island residents.
Saleem described the service as a game-changer for Thoddoo, a remarkable tourism hotspot where speedboat journeys had previously proven inconvenient and time-consuming for visitors.
The new connectivity promises to elevate the island’s appeal and stimulate economic activity.
Services will initially feature two flights per week on Thursdays and Saturdays, with one-way fares priced at MVR 799, making air travel accessible while replacing slower sea alternatives.
This presidential pledge by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu enhances regional links, positioning Thoddoo for greater tourism growth and easier resident travel.
