MNDF Special Forces win gold at International PATS competition in Pakistan
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has earned international recognition after its Special Forces team secured the gold medal at the 9th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition 2026, held in Pakistan.
The prestigious military exercise took place from February 5 to 7 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, bringing together 24 teams from the armed forces of 16 countries.
The MNDF delegation consisted of 15 Special Forces personnel who competed in a series of demanding tactical and operational challenges designed to test combat readiness, coordination, and leadership under simulated battlefield conditions.
Organised by the Pakistan Army, the PATS Competition is regarded as a high-level international military event aimed at enhancing interoperability, operational effectiveness, and professional excellence among participating forces.
MNDF’s achievement against a strong field of international militaries reflects the continued strengthening of the force’s capabilities and professionalism.
The success also underscores the emphasis placed on defence development under the leadership and guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Commander-in-Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force.
