VP Latheef unveils National Disability Inclusion Action Plan
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef inaugurated the National Action Plan on Disability Inclusion at a ceremony held at Hotel Jen, marking a major government milestone in supporting persons with disabilities.
In his address, the Vice President emphasized Islamic teachings on compassionate treatment of people with disabilities, noting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu prioritizes embedding these values in Maldivian society in line with the Sunnah.
He highlighted the President’s personal oversight in empowering individuals with disabilities and protecting their rights since taking office.
Major milestones include securing jobs for 356 people with disabilities and launching dynamic programs to equip them with essential workplace skills.
The Vice President described the action plan as one of the government’s most significant initiatives, representing a historic advancement in safeguarding disability rights.
He extended thanks from both himself and the President to all contributors, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for its longstanding support in nation-building efforts.
