President Dr Muizzu to undertake official visit to Germany
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is set to undertake an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany from February 9 to 13, following an invitation from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President’s Office has announced.
During the visit, President Muizzu will hold high-level discussions with President Steinmeier and other senior officials of the German government.
The talks are expected to focus on areas of shared interest and aim to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Maldives and Germany.
As part of the official programme, President Muizzu will visit Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he will deliver a keynote address highlighting the Maldives’ experience and strategies in climate change adaptation.
He is also scheduled to address the German Council on Foreign Relations, where he will present the Maldives’ perspective on the importance of the ocean in shaping foreign policy.
The President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers and business representatives.
A business forum will also be held during the visit, providing a platform to explore investment opportunities and avenues for economic collaboration between the two countries.
President Muizzu’s visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany, which were formally established on July 5, 1966.
