Maldives’ futsal team welcomed home after SAFF Championship triumph
The Maldives’ national futsal team received a warm and jubilant welcome upon their return to Malé City following their flawless triumph at the inaugural SAFF Futsal Championship.
The historic tournament was held for the first time in Bangkok, Thailand, and organised by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
The Maldivian side emerged champions after an unbeaten run, securing the title in the competition’s debut edition.
The team was officially received at the VIP terminal of Velana International Airport (VIA) by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, alongside Football Association of Maldives (FAM) President Ahmed Thoriq.
Family members of the players and large numbers of supporters were also present to welcome the champions home.
Following their arrival, the futsal teamtook part in a victory parade along Ameenee Magu and Majeedhee Magu, before concluding the celebrations at the Artificial Beach.
A special ceremony was organised at the venue to honour the team’s achievement.
The championship victory marks a significant milestone for Maldivian futsal and highlights the team’s growing presence on the regional stage.
