Maldives President extends Republic Day greetings, reaffirms strong Maldives–India ties

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India, and the Indian people on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day.

In a message shared on social media, President Muizzu said the day reflects the strong commitment of the Indian people to the principles of freedom, democracy, and good governance.

He noted that these values continue to guide India’s constitutional journey as a republic.

The President also reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with India, stating that cooperation between the two countries has greatly contributed to the welfare of the people of both nations.

President Muizzu expressed the Maldives’ intention to continue working closely with India to further enhance bilateral ties in the years ahead.

India marks its Republic Day on January 26, commemorating the adoption of its Constitution in 1950.

Relations between the Maldives and India are rooted in strong people-to-people links and sustained cooperation across multiple sectors, forming an important pillar of regional partnership.
