President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has commended the Maldivian national futsal team for their historic victory at the SAFF Futsal Championship, describing the achievement as a source of immense national pride.

In a post shared on social media platform X, the President hailed the championship win as a “historic pride” for the Maldives, noting that the growing number of gold medals and top honors secured by the country’s youth in international sporting arenas reflects a promising future for the nation.

The President highlighted that finishing at the top of an international tournament by winning every match is a remarkable milestone, adding that the team’s performance stands as a powerful example of success achieved through strong national spirit, unity, and determination.

He further reiterated his appreciation and gratitude to the talented and dedicated players of the national futsal team for their outstanding efforts.

The Maldives secured the SAFF Futsal Championship title with a 3–1 victory over Bhutan in their latest match.

The win confirmed the championship for the Maldivian side, who remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and sealed the title with one match still remaining.

The Maldives are scheduled to face Sri Lanka in their final fixture of the SAFF Futsal Championship.
