The Government of Maldives has reaffirmed its support for the unity and territorial integrity of Yemen, reiterating backing for the country’s internationally recognised legitimate government.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldives said it is closely monitoring developments in Yemen and welcomed the call by the Presidential Leadership Council to engage in comprehensive talks aimed at reaching a political settlement through dialogue.

The Maldives also expressed appreciation for the initiative by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host the conference in Riyadh, noting that the effort reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Yemen’s security, stability, and a peaceful resolution through diplomacy.

This position follows an earlier statement issued by the Ministry in December, in which the Maldives welcomed ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Yemen.

At the time, the government voiced support for reconciliation initiatives led by Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, along with efforts by the Arab League to facilitate negotiations among Yemeni stakeholders.

The Maldives reiterated that constructive dialogue remains essential to ending the conflict and ensuring long-term security and unity in Yemen.
