President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has renamed the Aviation Security Command, bringing it under a broader mandate as the Aviation and Port Security Command.

The decision was formalized through Directive No. 20/2025, issued on Sunday.

According to the directive, the restructuring is intended to place all ports under unified oversight, enhancing coordination and strengthening security measures across port facilities and international seaports.

The change also aligns national procedures with recognized port security standards.

Despite the new name, official correspondence will continue to use the command’s existing reference number, 453, previously designated for the Aviation Security Command.
