A 21-year-old Nepalese woman has been arrested in Malé after police discovered a large quantity of suspected drugs in her apartment, raising suspicions of drug trafficking.

According to a remand order issued by the Criminal Court, the suspect identified as Nisha Raai was taken into custody after officers found drugs in an amount deemed consistent with trafficking.

The court document states that the substances were found in plain sight inside the apartment.

Police also recovered equipment commonly used for sealing drugs, further strengthening suspicions of involvement in trafficking activities.

The remand order further notes that Raai’s urine test returned positive for cannabis.

During her court appearance, Raai requested legal representation.

The Criminal Court subsequently ordered that she be remanded in custody for five days as investigations continue.
