Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that 63 percent of the land reclamation works for Hulhumalé Phase 3 have now been completed.

According to MACL, a total of 40 hectares has been reclaimed so far out of the planned 63 hectares for the development phase, reflecting steady progress on the project.

Reclamation activities are currently ongoing with the deployment of two dredgers Prins der Nederlanden and Oranje both operated by Boskalis.

Each dredger has a capacity of 22,000 cubic metres and is actively engaged at the site to accelerate reclamation works.

MACL stated that reclamation works for Hulhumalé Phase 3 commenced on 10 November 2025, following an earlier start and subsequent resumption of the project.

The Hulhumalé Phase 3 project is a key component of the government’s broader urban development plans, aimed at expanding land availability to support housing and infrastructure needs in the Greater Malé region.
