Indian teacher suspended in Addu after violent clash with student

A widely shared video shows an Indian teacher confronting a Grade 12 student inside a classroom at Addu High School.
In the footage, the teacher is seen forcefully grabbing the student by the collar and pushing him and violently hitting him, with the confrontation escalating as physical contact continues between them.
The video further shows the student pushing back at the teacher during the altercation and the teacher responding more violently.
Following the circulation of the video, the Education Ministry acknowledged that the teacher had used excessive force and said it views the matter with gravity.
The ministry has suspended the Indian teacher from duty and confirmed that an internal process is underway to review the incident and determine further action.
