A man and a woman have been hospitalized following a violent incident involving sharp weapons stemming from a domestic dispute in Malé. 

Police confirmed that the altercation, reported around 10:05 a.m.

The individuals involved, a 32-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man were reportedly in a romantic relationship. 

Both sustained injuries during the altercation, including a stab wound to the man’s back. 

They are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that the injuries resulted from a lover’s quarrel that escalated into violence. 

Authorities have commenced a formal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case remains under active investigation.
