Agreement signed to build accommodation blocks for expatriate workers

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed an agreement with Rotie Engineering Technology Pvt Ltd of Hong Kong to build accommodation blocks for expatriate workers.

The buildings developed by HDC are designed with 18 blocks to accommodate 9,000 workers.

According to HDC, the accommodation blocks will have rooms with a capacity of 4 and 6 people, a toilet block, a prayer room and a shop. 

Offices have also been included in the building. Five floors have been allocated for this purpose. It also includes security rooms, conference halls and medical rooms.

According to HDC, the project is aimed at reducing the cost of providing affordable safe housing to expatriate workers and companies working in the Maldives.
