A high-level Saudi Arabian business delegation headed by  Sara Al Sayed, Deputy Minister for International Relations at the Kingdom’s Ministry of Investment, paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu this morning, the President’s Office has announced.

The visit builds on the President’s earlier meeting with  Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, during his Hajj visit earlier this year.

At that meeting, both sides agreed to pursue deeper investment cooperation  a commitment reflected in the delegation’s visit to Malé, which officials described as an important step in advancing economic ties and exploring new areas of partnership.

According to the President’s Office, discussions during today’s meeting covered a wide range of sectors, including investment, private-sector engagement, economic development, agriculture, fisheries, artificial intelligence, information technology, and tourism.

The Saudi delegation is also taking part in the Maldives–Saudi Investment Roundtable scheduled for later today, where they will engage directly with government agencies and industry leaders to explore opportunities across these sectors.

During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s longstanding support to the Maldives, noting that the Kingdom’s contributions have played a significant role in the country’s socioeconomic progress.

He conveyed particular gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s assistance in enabling the completion of development works at Velana International Airport (VIA), as well as for dispatching a high-level delegation to the Maldives.

The visiting delegation thanked the President and the Government for the warm hospitality extended to them.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the close and brotherly relations shared between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from the President’s Office also attended the meeting.
