On Solidarity Day, President Dr. Muizzu calls for meaningful International action for Palestine
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on the international community to move beyond expressions of solidarity and take concrete action to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people.
In a message posted on X on Saturday, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Dr. Muizzu said the situation on the ground remains devastating, due to the violation of a fragile ceasefire.
He noted that ongoing violations of the truce, continued Israeli strikes on Gaza, settlement expansion, and severe restrictions on daily life have stripped Palestinians of stability and the chance of building a viable economic future.
Now more than ever, we call on the international community to translate solidarity into meaningful action and work collectively to ensure that the legitimate rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people are fully realised

President Dr. Muizzu reaffirmed that the Maldives stands firmly with the Palestinian people and reiterated the country's unwavering support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed more than 69,700 Palestinians. Despite the declared truce, Israeli attacks have continued, with over 347 Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 10.
