Parts of VIA to be closed temporarily as Cambodia's Prime Minister visit

Parts of Velana International Airport (VIA) are to be temporarily closed as the Prime Minister of Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen to the Maldives. 

Maldives Airports Company Plc is to close down a portion of the road and lagoon of Velana International Airport at different times on May 15 and 17 January due to the official visit of foreign dignitaries to the Maldives. 

According to MACL, a portion of the airport will be closed from 9 am to 11 am on Sunday (15 January) and from 7:30 am to 8:30 am on Tuesday ( 17 January). 

MACL has decided to close the airport from its international terminal till the end of the domestic terminal during these hours and the airport's will also be closed off at these hours. 

MACL staff buses and MTCC buses will stop at western parking (A) areas during this time since these periods are blocked. At the airport, drivers can park their bikes in this location. The MACL-operated ferries will be brought closer to the Western Parking Area (B). It is the fissure in the wall where the taxi line is located at the airport.

At this point, even the airport's lagoon can be entered and exited from the southern side. It's from the forest in the area where the taxi queue is located. From an hour before these timings, the airport's cargo will be closed from the drain opposite the terminal to the one opposite the official wall.

While security is being beefed up during these hours, the MACL has asked pedestrians to follow the instructions of the security guards.
