Police recover USD 20,000 stolen from expatriates in Hulhumalé

The Maldives Police Service has recovered USD 20,000 (over MVR 300,000) that was stolen from a group of expatriates residing in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

According to police, the case was reported at 2:40 a.m. on Friday, involving the theft of USD 20,000 and other valuables from a bag belonging to expatriate workers.

The incident occurred at a site where the victims reside.

During a search of the surrounding area, officers discovered the stolen cash, bag, several wallets, and other personal items hidden among trees nearby.

Police confirmed that the recovered belongings have since been returned to their rightful owner.

No arrests have been made so far, and investigations into the theft are ongoing, police stated.
