The Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced plans to expand its ATM network to all inhabited islands of Laamu Atoll this week, as part of its ongoing nationwide financial inclusion initiative.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held to lay the foundation stone for a new ATM branch in Laamu Hithadhoo.

The event was attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, cabinet ministers, BML Chairman Ahmed Ali Habeeb, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and other senior officials.

Under the ‘BML ATMs for the Whole Country’ project, new ATMs will be installed in Kunahandhoo, Dhanbidhoo, Maabaidhoo, Mundoo, Isdhoo, and Kalaidhoo completing ATM coverage across all inhabited islands in the atoll.

This expansion brings the total number of ATMs installed by BML this year to 103.

This is undoubtedly one of the largest projects we have ever undertaken. It reflects our commitment to increasing financial participation and supporting rural development across the Maldives.

stated CEO Mohamed Shareef

BML currently operates 42 branches, 194 self-service banking centers, and 252 ATMs across 20 atolls.

The bank continues to expand its network to ensure convenient and reliable access to banking services for individuals, businesses, and communities nationwide.
