Government eases expat work permit cancellation process
The government has announced that employers will now be able to cancel work permits through the Expat System without making immediate payment of related fees and fines.
Under the new arrangement, these payments can be settled at a later date.
According to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, the decision aims to provide greater convenience for employers in managing foreign workers’ permits and maintaining accurate employee records.
The ministry noted that while cancellations can be processed before payment, the quota slots linked to those work permits will only be released after all associated fees and fines have been fully paid.
