Probe underway after ducks and fish found dead in Hulhudhoo Park
Authorities are investigating a case reported from Hulhudhoo, Addu City, concerning the alleged poisoning of birds and fish in the local Duck Park.
The matter came to public attention after photos showing dead ducks and fish in the park’s stream began circulating on Facebook earlier today.
A Facebook post shared this morning claimed that certain individuals had deliberately poisoned and killed the animals living in the park’s waters.
The post described the act as “uncivilized,” expressing dismay that while some residents are working to improve the island’s environment, others are undermining these efforts.
According to local sources, the animals reportedly began dying two days ago.
The incident has since been formally reported to the Maldives Police Service.
As the community awaits the outcome of the investigation, island residents have been engaged in efforts to clean and restore the park area.
