The High Commissioner was escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional Haiykolhu cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, marking the formal commencement of his diplomatic tenure in the Maldives.
President Muizzu warmly welcomed the new High Commissioner and accepted his credentials, expressing confidence that his appointment would further strengthen the close and historic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
During the subsequent meeting, the President and the High Commissioner held discussions on enhancing cooperation in several key areas, including trade, economic development, and climate resilience.
Both parties reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and shared cultural and historical ties that bind the two nations.
They also underlined the importance of deepening people-to-people connections and exploring new avenues of collaboration aimed at advancing mutual prosperity and regional stability.
