VP pledges better pay and framework for State Auditors
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening internal auditing and tackling challenges faced by auditors.
He delivered the remarks as chief guest at the State Internal Audit Conference 2025.
He stressed the role of auditors in improving accountability and transparency within state institutions and announced that a framework for internal auditing has been established.
He added that remuneration for auditors in government offices will be improved soon.
Emphasizing the need to safeguard audit independence, the Vice President said enabling auditors to work free from interference and ensuring full implementation of their recommendations are vital to transforming state institutions and State owned Enterprises into efficient and corruption resistant entities.
He noted that auditors are central to strengthening governance, maintaining public trust, and ensuring that public spending generates maximum value.
Reflecting on the theme, “Driving Public Value – Internal Audit in the Era of Accountability and Change,” he urged adaptation to global risks and challenges while recognizing the conference as a platform to address them.
At the event, the Vice President also inaugurated the Risk Management Framework and Internal Audit Strategic Action Plan, marking a key step in reinforcing governance across the public sector.
