President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that dollar ATMs will be installed in three islands of Vaavu Atoll before March next year, aiming to support the tourism sector by improving access to foreign currency.

The ATMs are planned for Fulidhoo, Felidhoo, and Keyodhoo, islands where a significant volume of dollars circulates through guesthouses, resorts, and tour operators.

During his visit to Keyodhoo, President Muizzu told residents that the government’s role is to accelerate island development.

He assured that the ATMs would be operational ahead of March 2026.

Tourism in Vaavu Atoll has grown significantly in recent years, making access to foreign currency a key factor for supporting local businesses and visitors.
