BML to host 42nd Asian Bankers Association Conference in 2026
Bank of Maldives (BML) has been selected to host the 42nd Asian Bankers Association (ABA) General Meeting and Conference in 2026, bringing together banking and financial leaders from across the region to discuss key issues, opportunities, and the future of the financial industry.
The announcement was made during the 41st ABA General Meeting and Conference, held on September 15–16, 2025, in Bhutan.
At the event, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the ABA.

This will be the second time BML hosts the ABA conference, following a successful event in 2018, underscoring the bank’s growing influence and leadership within the Asian banking landscape.
The 2026 conference is expected to draw representatives from ABA member countries, including CEOs, senior executives, and industry experts.
The event will feature discussions, workshops, and networking sessions on topics critical to banking and financial services, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among regional leaders.
