The Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Nepal due to ongoing unrest in the country.

In a statement, the Ministry urged all Maldivians to comply fully with instructions from Nepalese authorities, the Maldivian High Commission in India, and the Ministry itself during this critical period.

Citizens are advised to stay away from areas of unrest and to prioritize their safety, particularly in Kathmandu, where curfews have been imposed in multiple areas.

The Ministry emphasized that citizens should only venture outdoors for essential needs.

The Ministry also reassured that it, along with the Maldivian High Commission in India, is actively monitoring the situation of Maldivian citizens in Nepal, including students, and is coordinating with local authorities to arrange necessary accommodations.

Should the situation deteriorate further, the Ministry has committed to providing assistance to Maldivians in Nepal.

Citizens requiring support can contact the Maldivian High Commission in India at +91 9910040786 or the Ministry’s hotline at 7983400.
