The President highlighted the country’s deep pride in the dedicated leaders and employees who have guided the postal service for more than a century.

The Maldivian postal system traces its origins back to 9 September 1906, when the first post office was established following the government’s recognition of the need for an efficient communications system to connect the islands.

A major expansion took place in 1994, when agency post offices were set up across all inhabited islands, ensuring postal services reached even the most remote communities.

In recognition of its growing role, the government later restructured the service into a fully state-owned company under the name Maldives Post Limited.

Over the years, Maldives Post has remained a crucial national institution, acting as a lifeline for connectivity while supporting the country’s socio-economic development.
