Police have announced that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of a 21-year-old Maldivian man who passed away at a resort in B. Atoll earlier this month.

The death, reported on August 23, is under active investigation.

Police stated that the decision to carry out an autopsy was made after the victim’s family raised concerns over the body being kept in the morgue without being released to them.

According to authorities, the body will be sent to India for the autopsy, though no timeline has been provided for when the process will be completed.

Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.
