STO launches central pharmacy in Hulhumalé to enhance public access to medicines
In a continued effort to expand healthcare services across the Maldives, the State Trading Organization (STO) has officially opened STO Pharmacy Central in Hulhumalé.
The new pharmacy began serving the public on Tuesday, August 5, at its strategic location on Huvandhumaa Hingun, adjacent to Hulhumalé Hospital.
The site previously housed the STO Smart Store.
The newly launched facility aims to meet the increasing demand for pharmaceutical and wellness products in the growing urban community of Hulhumalé.
Customers can access a comprehensive range of services, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter drugs, medical consumables, and caregiving essentials such as diapers, cosmetics, and nebulizers.
STO Pharmacy Central is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until midnight, offering residents convenient service hours.
The outlet supports multiple payment methods, including cash, card, and national health insurance schemes like Aasandha, ensuring affordability and accessibility for a wide demographic.
The launch forms part of STO’s broader initiative to strengthen the national healthcare infrastructure and supports the government’s decentralization goals by bringing essential health services closer to local communities.
With Hulhumalé witnessing rapid urban development and a growing population, STO’s new central pharmacy is positioned to play a key role in addressing healthcare delivery gaps.
The facility further reinforces STO’s commitment to being a dependable contributor to the Maldives’ public health sector.
