Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned to India following a two-day official visit to the Maldives.
He attended the nation’s 60th Independence Day celebrations and held high-level discussions with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Arriving in Malé early yesterday morning, PM Modi’s visit underscored the close ties between the two countries.
During the visit, the leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest and inaugurated several joint projects aimed at deepening cooperation across key sectors.
In a message posted on ‘X’ before his departure, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the Maldivian leadership and people.

Before departing, PM Modi joined President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady to witness a ceremonial military parade held in honor of the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day anniversary.
PM Modi noted that the celebrations reflected the rich cultural heritage and strong national spirit of the Maldivian people.
He further highlighted the nation’s impressive development in recent years, acknowledging its growing influence in areas ranging from cultural preservation to climate change initiatives.
