China’s President Xi Jinping congratulates Maldives on 60th Independence Day

President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has extended warm congratulations to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the people of the Maldives on the occasion of the country’s 60th Independence Day.

In a message sent on July 26, President Xi conveyed his best wishes on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

He highlighted the strong and enduring friendship between the two nations, noting that China and Maldives have maintained close and stable relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1972.

President Xi emphasized that the China-Maldives relationship stands as a model of mutual respect and cooperation between countries of different sizes.

Reflecting on President Muizzu’s state visit to China earlier this year, President Xi said their cordial meetings had resulted in a wide-reaching consensus on strengthening bilateral ties.

He reaffirmed China’s commitment to further deepening the China-Maldives comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and expressed readiness to work with President Muizzu to build a community with a shared future.

Additionally, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also sent a congratulatory message to Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, marking the special occasion.
