The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, will undertake an official State Visit to the Maldives from 28 to 30 July 2025, at the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This visit will mark President Dissanayake’s first official trip to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024.

During the visit, President Muizzu and President Dissanayake are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions focusing on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with the aim of strengthening long-standing ties between the two neighbouring nations.

The visit also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The two countries formally established diplomatic ties on 26 July 1965, shortly after the Maldives gained independence.

The visit is expected to reaffirm the close cultural, economic, and regional cooperation shared between the Maldives and Sri Lanka over the past six decades.
